Christmas Memories: Creating & Celebrating Family Traditions 🎄

22 December 2025

Hello Wonderful Families,

The Christmas season is here—a wonderful time for connection, reflection, and making memories together. Whether your family has long-standing traditions or you’re looking to start new ones, what matters most is spending time with loved ones in ways that feel special to you.

Sharing Traditions—Old and New

1. Remembering Together: Take a moment to share with your child your favourite childhood Christmas traditions—maybe it was decorating the tree, baking a family recipe, or listening to special music.

Tell your child a story about what made it meaningful to you.

2. Creating Your Own Traditions: Don’t be afraid to start something new!

Your child will remember the moments you create together, no matter how simple.

Some easy ideas:

  • Christmas Eve Storytime: Read a favourite holiday book (or any book!) as a family before bed.

  • Hot Chocolate Night: Make hot chocolate and cuddle up together for a festive movie or sing-along.

  • Homemade Ornaments: Craft simple tree decorations from paper, recycled materials, or even salt dough.

  • Family Photo: Take a yearly photo together—silly hats or matching pajamas encouraged!

3. Celebrate Your Way: Traditions can be big or small, old or new, and unique to your family. Maybe you do a “kindness countdown,” make a special breakfast, or take a walk to see the lights. It’s all about togetherness.

A Simple Craft to Try

Family Memory Jar:

  • Decorate an empty jar together.

  • Throughout Christmas week, write or draw favourite memories, funny moments, or things you’re grateful for.

  • Read them together at the end of the week—or next year!

Looking for more ways to make memories? Our Toddler Activity Workbook and Animal Alphabet Colouring Booklet are full of easy, screen-free activities for quiet moments, family time, and creative keepsakes.

With festive wishes,
