Hello Families,
Learning new sounds and words is even more fun when you play together. Here are some simple language games to build your child’s skills and confidence:
1. Rhyme Time Say a word (like “cat”) and ask your child to think of a word that rhymes (“hat,” “bat”). Take turns and see how many you can make!
2. Clap the Syllables Pick a word and clap out the beats—"ap-ple" (2 claps), "el-e-phant" (3 claps). This builds listening and sound awareness in a fun, physical way.
3. Blend to Make a Word Say two or three sounds slowly (like /s/ - /u/ - /n/) and see if your child can “blend” them together to make “sun.” You can also use toys or pictures to help.
4. Messy Letters Write letters in a tray of salt, sand, or shaving foam. Kids can make the shapes and say the sounds as they go—great for sensory and phonics learning! Social Activity: Try one of this week’s games, snap a photo or video, share it here—or let us know your child’s favourite word to rhyme! We love seeing your learning discoveries.
Keep playing and learning, Angela and the Easy English for Kids Team |
