Building Routines - Finding Comfort in Everyday Rhythms

Hello

As we settle back into school and daily life, routines can bring a sense of calm and comfort for children (and grown-ups too!). This week let’s talk about how simple routines can help your child feel secure, confident, and ready to learn.

🕒 Why Routines Matter

Young children thrive when they know what to expect. Even small routines—like a song before tidying up, or a bedtime story—help kids feel safe and ready for what’s next.

🎵 Routine Boosters

  • Tidy-Up Song: Sing a favourite song together when it’s time to clean up.

  • Storytime Ritual: Let your child choose a book every night or use a special bookmark.

  • Visual Schedules: Draw pictures of your daily routine together (breakfast, play, reading, bath, bed). For little ones, use stickers or simple drawings.

✏️ Label Our Day (Writing Practice)

  • Help your child write or trace the words for each part of the day.

  • For younger kids, let them draw a picture for each activity.
